Crystal Antlers – Tentacles
‘Crystal Antlers’ contain a heavy eccentric sound strangely reminiscent of ‘At-The-Drive’ with a weird psychedelic blend of progressive indie noise punk. Overlapping textures create slightly delusional discord with forceful rhythms. I’ll induce a Burroughesque cut-up technique of the album’s song titles to make sense of the rest. Insert description. It’s as dust at the foot of the mountain collects upward into a vapor trail amidst a swollen sky until the sun dies ontop a glacier as the tentacles time erased into a painless sleep. Make sense?? That’s what I thought…. Now go listen..
White Fence
If White Fence is a hypothetical, then imagine a distortion laced flashback of The Strange Boys where Syd Barrett meets The Kinks on a sunny 60s psychedelic pop-influenced day. Never the mind the weirdness that combines Lo-Fi psych garage rock with echoing reverb and laughter, it’s just the hint of the hippie ideal turning Darker My Love..
Moon Duo
If Moon Duo is a psychedelic trip then it hovers over a Holy Mountain reminiscent of the strange sounds of The Doors intermingled with a type of The Velvet Underground trance. A minimalist, 2 piece drone experimenting into the far spaces of psychedelic rock.
Crystal Stilts
Crystal Stilts is a New York band deftly combining the spooked 60s Texas psych of 13th Floor Elevators and Red Crayola, the gothic blues/punk howl of Gun Club, the dark, experimental DIYism of early Flying Nun/Xpressway groups and a dash of classic 60s pop by way of early Mary Chain b-sides, Alight Of Night won universal accolades and established the band as first-class purveyors of haunting, atmospheric post-punk pop.
